Weekly Letter: Maya

Dear Reader,

In yoga, maya is illusion. Everything we see and interact with is maya. It’s fake. So our feelings around what we’re interacting with is all maya. And if we can see everything as maya, and the only truth is the soul, then we can create separation and stay focus on the truth. The soul.

And yet, I’m reading Ezra Klein’s new book and in a section, he’s talking about workforce culture and how there was the idea that because of the pandemic we wouldn’t need central work sites for certain companies. People can remote in from anywhere. And for a short time, this was tested, but more and more companies are bringing people back into office because the one thing they didn’t consider was millions of years of cultural conditioning. We as a species use it and rely on it.

If everyone worked under the idea that everything is an illusion, life would get ultimately harder, but we wouldn’t care.
