Weekly Letter: Living your yoga
Dear Reader,
What does it mean to ‘live your yoga?’
Is it meditating every day? Being a good person? Finding peace in the chaos?
I love simple questions that force me to think. I was reading something lately and it lead me to ask myself: How do I live my yoga?
Isn’t it funny that my mind froze asking myself this? I’m in the studio 6 days a week and I still freeze because the question is so simple and yet, no one has ever asked me that…they see a yoga teacher/studio owner and just assume.
So I took a walk…which is something I do sometimes. I walk laps around the studio to think and move.
My first thought was: I live my yoga by being consistent.
Do I? Am I consistent? How am I consistent? What am I consistent with?
And then I came to a very simple answer for a very simple question that feels more truthful.
I live my yoga by showing up. What happens is as varied as the days. But I keep showing up and that has a lot of power for me and allows me to hold space for myself within my practice.
And now, from this seemingly simple question, I have my answer and my mantra for awhile.
Keep showing up,
~Carmen
