Weekly Letter: Camaraderie

Dear Reader,

I hosted a group of yoga teachers last weekend on a program for restorative yoga. It's been a bit since I was in a room of teachers and we all felt the camaraderie of being a room with like-minded people talking shop.

As often as I'm in the studio, it's not often I get to do that and it felt good to be having conversations around a topic I spend so much time on.

While yoga frequently happens in classes, being a teacher can be a lonely activity. There is no water cooler, no work happy hours, no one really to chat with about things at work. And bless my husband's heart, he does a good job keeping up, but he's not a yoga teacher-so there's a gap.

The moments I'm in my community, I no longer have to explain myself, apologize or create such context to bring the person I'm talking to up to speed. I also remember things that have hidden themselves in the recesses of my mind because I haven't needed it for awhile.

I went home from the event...jazzed. I should have been exhausted, but I stayed up later than my bedtime still high on the energy of the space we created that night.

A true blessing to be surrounded by amazing teachers,
~Carmen
